KOREA RANDONNEURS - 코리아 란도너스

Randonneurs are long-distance unsupported endurance cyclists who cover distances between 200km and 1200km and beyond. Randonneuring has its roots in France and every four years in August Randonneurs from around the globe gather in this country to participate in the 1200km event Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP). The Korea Randonneurs were established in 2009 and the first Brevets were held in 2010 (BICYCLELIFE article). All Korea Randonneurs Brevets have been sanctioned by Audax Club Parisien (ACP 601000) and can be used to qualify for PBP. Check out our permanent new web site.

랜 도너스 (Randonneurs) 는 200km 에서 1200km 사이의 장거리를 다른 사람의 도움 없이 오직 자신의 인내로 자전거를 타는 사람들을 의미합니다. 랜도링 (Randonneuring) 은 프랑스에서 기원되었고 매년 8월에 개최하는 파리-브레스트-파리 (PBP) 1200km 구간에 참여하기 위해 세계 곳곳에 있는 많은 랜도너스들이 이곳으로 모였으며 이 대회는 4년 동안 개최되었습니다. 한국랜도너스는 2009 년에 설립되었으며 첫 Brevets은 2010 년에 개최되었습니다 (BICYCLELIFE). 한국에서의 모든 랜도너스 싸 이클링은 Audax Club Parisien 에 의해 승인되었음 (ACP 601000). Typhoon Sanba catches up with Korea Randonneurs

Despite a fast approaching Typhoon, a few hardy Korea Randonneurs decided to defy mother nature and ride the 600K Brevets (GBG and BGB) on September 15. Six riders started from Gwangju and three from Busan. At the start riders in Busan faced heavy rain but as the day progressed the skies cleared. As night approached the flood gates opened and heavy downpour challenged Randonneurs. Goon Koch (R in the picture with our very own Russell Morris), an American visiting Korea, who had started in Gwangju, was the first to arrive at the half way point in Busan. After another night of pouring rain and several crashes 5 riders finished this epic 600K Brevet within the 40 hour time limit. Four of the riders were our friends from TEAM BOODOO.

600K Busan-Gwangju-Busan (and Gwangju-Busan-Gwangju)

NEW DATE: On September 22, 2012 Korea Randonneurs will host two 600K Brevets. The time limit is 40 hours and riders need to be prepared for night riding (night riding rules). With the heat of the summer fading we move into a cool and cycling friendly fall. These 600K Brevets are the perfect opportunity to continue the quest of Korea Randonneurs to add more distance to your accomplishments. The rides are easy (compared to the Cheonan 600K) and should appeal to many riders, including those who have “taken the summer off”. It is also the last opportunity to qualify for the 1000K SBS held on October 5.

2012년 09월 22일 한국 란도너스는 600K 브레베 둘을 개최합니다. 제한 시간은 40시간이며 참가자들은 야간 라이딩에 대비해야 합니다 (야간 라이딩 규칙). 여름의 열기가 물러나면서 이제 자전거 타기에 좋은 시원한 가을로 접어들고 있습니다. 이번 600K 브레베는 한국 란도너스의 여정을 계속 함께하며 새로운 길을 달려볼 수 있는 좋은 기회입니다. (천안 600K에 비하면) 쉬운 코스니까 여름 동안 "시즌오프" 했던 분들을 포함해 여러 분들의 마음에 들 겁니다. 10월 5일 열리는 1000K SBS 참가 자격을 위한 마지막 기회이기도 합니다.

란도너들은 이번에 처음으로 부산에서 출발하게 됩니다. 부산은 올해 많은 대회들을 꾸려온 운영총괄이사 얀 본스트라 할아버지가 사는 곳이기도 합니다. 참가자들은 일출과 함께 출발해서 처음 11 km는 시청에서 사상구 낙동강까 지 부산 시내를 달리게 됩니다. 하늘이 밝아오는 동안 참가자들은 우리나라 최대의 강인 낙동강을 따라 새로 난 자전거 전용 도로를 즐기게 됩니다. 잔잔한 강물을 따라가노라면 높은 산들이 옆으로 지나가고 새들의 노래소리 사이로 간간이 기차 소리가 들려옵니다. 삼랑진을 지난 다음에는 자전거 도로에서 빠져나와 낙동강을 따라 60km를 더 달려갑니다. 그리고서 큰 고개 하나만 넘으면 합천의 두 번째 기준점에 도착하게 됩니다. 그 다음 란도너들은 아름다운 합천호를 따라 달리게 됩니다. 저 멀리 지리산의 여러 봉우리들이 눈에 들어오는데, 올해 코스에서는 그리로 가지 않으니 안심해도 됩니다. 우리가 달릴 길은 지리산 북쪽을 따라가는데 가파르거나 힘든 산악 코스는 없습니다. 광주로 가는 길은 24번 국도를 주로 따라가며 유서 깊은 도시 남원, 순창과 담양으로 이어집니다. 그리고 나면 반환점인 광 주까지는 금방입니다. 참가자들은 자정 무렵에 한순권님 자전거 가게에 도착하게 됩니다. 거기서 채울 것 채우고 쉴 만큼 쉬었으면 이제 부산까지 복귀 라이딩입니다. 도착하면 완주 지점에서 얀 할아버지가 반겨줄 겁니다.

For the first time Randonneurs will start a Brevet in Busan, the hometown of Jan Boonstra, our General Manager who has managed this year’s Brevets. Riders will start at sun rise and the first 11 km will lead them from the City Hall through Busan city to the Nakdong River at Sasang-dong. While the morning takes shape, riders will enjoy the brand new exclusive bike trail along Korea’s largest river, the Nakdong. Randonneurs will ride through the serene valley flanked by high mountains and accompanied by the song of birds and occasionally a passing train. After Samnangjin we will leave the bike trail and continue to follow the Nakdong River for another 60 km. After only one major climb Randonneurs will reach the second control at Hapcheon. From there we will follow the beautiful Hapcheon Lake. The high mountains of Jiri-san tower at the horizon, but be assured those mountains are not on this year’s program. Our route stays north of Jiri-san and there are no steep or difficult mountain passes. The route continues to Gwangju mainly following route 24 along the historic city of Namwon and the pleasant cities of Sunchang and Damyang. From there it is only a short ride to Gwangju, the turnaround of the Brevet. Riders will arrive at Han’s Bike Shop control around midnight. Here they can fuel up, rest and get ready for the return ride to Busan where they will be greeted by Jan Boonstra at the finish.

Super Randonneur and Korea 5000 medal

To earn ACP Super Randonneur status riders need to complete and entire Brevet series (200K, 300K, 400K, 600K) i one calendar year.

To earn the new KR5000 award, riders need to complete an entire Brevet series, a Fleche, a 1000K, the Korea 1200K Grand Randonnee and an additional 1000km in Brevets. This has to be accomplished in 2 successive calendar years. We anticipate to crown the first KR5000 winners later this year. Sign up for the 1200K and the 1000K SBS!

Twenty-one riders completed Korea's first 1200K Grand Randonnee

On May 26 twenty-three riders mounted their bikes to answer the call of Korea's first 1200K 'Grand Randonnee'. After 90 hours of cycling along the ocean and through the mountains, accompanied by scorching heat and hail showers, twenty-one riders are now KR1200 finishers.

Cheonan (천안) 600K - ride report

한국 란도너스는 천안 600K에 도전하였고 모두 28명이 40시간의 제한시간 이내에 완주하였습니다. 라이더는 동이 트기 전에 시작했고 천안을 빠져 나와 충주로 향했습니다. 그곳에서 그들은 남쪽으로 향했고 대륙을 건너 풍요로운 한국의 농경지로 진입했습니다. 논과 작은 마을, 텅 빈 도로가 그들과 봉양까지 동행하였습니다. 라이더는 해질녘 봉양을 지났고 영동과 동상을 향해 서쪽 산등성이를 지났습니다. 그곳에서 라이더는 부여와 청양을 향해 남쪽으로 돌았습니다. 그리고 집으로 돌아오는 친숙한 길을 지나 해가 떨어진 후 천안에 도착했습니다.

이순진 - 600k를 완주한 첫 번째 여성 란도너-는 역시 Super Randonneur의 지위를 획득하였습니다.이번 600K를 완주함으로써 19명의 라이더는 한국 Super Randonneurs (KSR) 입니다; 최재형, 곽동원, Ham Jason, Hennighausen Lothar, 홍기표, 정준승, 김만근, 김성학, 김영한, 김영민, 김영삼, 고성익, 이상옥, 이순진, 오현택, 박경환, 서재호, 성기헌, 윤병훈,

600K – Green Heart of Korea

Korea Randonneurs accepted the challenge of the Cheonan 600K and a total of 28 riders finished this challenging course within the 40-hour time limit. Rides started before dawn and exited Cheonan to Chungju. From there they headed south, crossed the continental divide and entered the rich farmland of Korea. Rice fields, small villages and largely empty roads accompanied them to Bongyang. Riders left Bongyang by nightfall and turned west crossing mountain ridges to Yeongdong and Dongsang. From there riders turned north to Buyeo and Cheongyang before heading home on familiar roads and arriving Cheonan after the sun had set.
