4월 20일 이른 아침에 18명의 라이더들이 부산 사상을
떠나 이 지역에서 처음으로 열리는 300km 브레베를 달렸습니다. 먼저
북쪽으로 향한 코스의 초반 90km는 서울-부산-서울 1000km 브레베를 달렸던 이들에게는 친숙할 길입니다. 예보에 따르면 낮 시간에 몇 시간 가량 가벼운 비가 내릴 예정이었는데, 실제로는 더 많은 비가
더 오래 내렸습니다. 거기에 더해 온도도 떨어져서 높은 고개에서 내려오는 다운힐은 말 그대로 살 떨리는 경험이었습니다.
우려 대로 많은 라이더들이 완주를 포기했습니다. 아홉 명이 시간 내에 부산으로 돌아와서
성공 완주율 50%를 기록했습니다.
Early morning on April 20th 18 riders
took off from Busan-Sasang to ride the first 300 km brevet in this part of the
country. They headed north and the first 90 km was familiar to those who ever
rode the Seoul-Busan-Seoul 1000km brevet. Light rain was expected for a few
hours during the day, but it was an unpleasant surprise that the rain was
pouring down for the greater part of the day. On top of that it was cold and
coming down from the various high mountain passes was a chilly experience. As
we feared, many riders gave up. Nine brave riders made it back to Busan in
time, which accounts for a success rate of 50%.
